My Get Up And Go

I get up each morning and dust off my wits
I Open the paper and I read the obits
And if my name ain’t there, then I know I ain’t dead
So I cover up my head and go back to bed
Allemande Left and Weave the Ring
You ask how do I know, that my youth is all spent
I know because my get up and go has got up and went
But in spite of it all, I'm still able to grin
When I think of the places my get up and go has got up and been

Old age is golden, that’s what I've heard said
But sometimes I wonder as I crawl into bed
‘Cause my ears is in a drawer, and my teeth is in a cup
And my eyes is on the table until I wake up
Four Boys Promenade, get up and go ‘round the world
Back home, Star Thru, California Twirl...and Promenade your girl
Then as I drift off to sleep, I think to myself
Is there anything else of me, That I should put on the shelf?

When I was younger, my slippers was red
And I could kick up my heels, way up over my head
Then I got a little older, and my slippers was blue
But still I could dance the whole night thru

But now I am old, and my slippers are black
I huff and puff to the store and I huff and puff all the way back
