Sides Face, Grand Square
The desert’s dry and so am I, I close one eye and try
to sleep,
With Slumber near I close one ear, I don’t appear to hear a peep.
Suddenly A shivery, awakens me must be the heat,
I know it’s rare but as I sleep, I swear the prickly pear have feet.
Four Boys Promenade just a lookin’ for a shade, goin’ ‘round in the middle
to the tune of the fiddle.
With your legs high kickin’ and your boot heels clickin’, Swing your girl
and all Promenade.
The critters get a lick in with a peckin’ and a
pickin’, and a rattle and a hissin’ and a do their thing
Saguaro sway go to and fro, and everybody dance to the cactus swing
Then on a stand of painted sand, A varmint band
began to play,
To the tune “Beneath The Moon”, the critters croon and swoon and sway.
Foxes yip out something hip, sidewinders slip and flip their tails,
On the stones and dried up bones, the combo moans and groans and wails.
The cacti do the two-step to, the groovin’ hoodoo
symphony,
From the hill the whippoorwill, will trill a sylvan rhapsody.
My tale is tall and off the wall, don’t you call me a ding-a-ling,
Ol’ Nat and Fats would tip their hats, man those desert cats can swing.
Heads/Sides Square Thru in the middle of the land, four hands ‘round to
the rhythm of the band,
All the way ‘round ‘til you meet the Corner, Touch 1/4 and look for a
wave.
Ends Circulate and Centers Trade, Boys Run Right around that maid,
All eight to the middle and Pass Thru, then Wheel and Deal and when you
do,
Square Thru 3 in the middle of the land, 3/4 ‘round to the rhythm of the
band,
Allemande Left new corner maid, take a new partner and Promenade.
The critters get a lick in with a peckin’ and a
pickin’, and a rattle and a hissin’ and a do their thing.
Saguaro sway go to and fro, and everybody dance to the cactus swing.
(on 2nd and 4th figure - "Saguaro sway go to and fro, Sides Face Grand
Square")
Saguaro sway go to and fro, and Do-Si-Do and that’s the cactus swing.
